If you are a high school or college student who is passionate about neuroscience and want to share it with your community, starting a NeuraQuest chapter in your communtiy is the perfect way to make an impact. By founding a chapter, you’ll create a community where younger students can explore the wonders of the brain, engage in hands-on experiments, and gain a head start in the field. What You Will Recieve
1) Teaching Resources
As a chapter leader, you will gain access to a library of lesson plans, interactive activities, and presentations. These resources will allow you to deliver high-quality, engaging educational experiences to your students, fostering a deeper understanding of complex neuroscience concepts.
2) Leadership Experience
Starting a NeuraQuest chapter will provide valuable leadership experience by allowing you to spearhead initiatives, coordinate events, and manage a team dedicated to promoting neuroscience education. You will also have the opportunity to apply to future Neuraquest opportunities (ex: board positions).
3) Mentorship & Support
By starting a NeuraQuest chapter, you will gain access to mentorship from our team, who will guide you through the process of creating impactful projects for social good. We will provide you with the tools needed to build your chapter from the ground up, ensuring you have the support to develop meaningful initiatives that align with NeuraQuest’s mission.
Your Responsibilities
1) Monthly Workshops
- Organize and conduct neuroscience workshops at local elementary and middle schools at least twice a month.
- Coordinate with school administrators and teachers to schedule sessions.
- Develop age-appropriate, engaging content and activities for the workshops.
2) Internal Development
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and team members for conducting workshops.
- Hold regular meetings with the team to discuss plans, distribute tasks, and review progress.
- Maintain a record of each workshop, including date, location, and the number of participants.
3) Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with local schools, community centers, and other potential venues for workshops.
- Promote NeuraQuest’s mission and activities through social media, local events, and community outreach.
- Seek opportunities to collaborate with other educational initiatives and organizations.
Creating a New Chapter
1) Application Form
To start your Neuraquest chapter, fill out the form linked here. If multiple forms are received from a single school, we will elect the most qualified candidate to lead the team.
2) Meet with NQ Team
If you are elected to lead your school’s team, you will receive an invitation to meet with a Neuraquest team member to discuss the onboarding process. During this meeting, you will discuss how you plan to appoint your fellow team members, brand your chapter, and reach out to local schools and organizations.
3) Register Chapter with your School
if you are a school-based NQ chapter, please register your chapter with your school. This process looks different for each school but our team members are happy to work with you to set this up. If possible, find a faculty advisor for your chapter.
4) Organize Your Team
Appoint members to your NQ team and clearly establish the rules and guidelines for what it means to be a contributing team member.
